Residential Mental Health Support for Young Adults with Autism & ADHD
Individualized care. Meaningful growth. Greater independence.
SMH Academy is a specialized residential mental health program in Boise, Idaho, serving young men ages 18–25 who benefit from individualized support for autism, ADHD, and co-occurring mental health challenges.
Our intentionally small, eight-resident home provides a comfortable, structured environment where young adults can strengthen everyday living skills, develop healthy routines, build confidence, and work toward greater independence.
Understanding Neurodivergent Young Adults
Young adults with autism and ADHD may experience challenges with executive functioning, emotional regulation, social connections, transitions, and maintaining consistent daily routines.
At SMH Academy, we recognize that every individual has unique strengths, needs, interests, and goals. Our neurodiversity-affirming approach focuses on understanding the whole person rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment.
We combine personalized mental health support with practical skill development, structured daily routines, and meaningful opportunities for growth in a comfortable residential setting.
Our goal is to help residents develop greater confidence, independence, and the skills needed to navigate everyday life.

Small by Design. Personalized by Purpose.
At SMH Academy, we believe meaningful progress begins with understanding each individual.
Our residential program is intentionally limited to eight young men, allowing us to provide a more personalized experience than larger residential settings. Within our comfortable, home-based environment, residents receive individualized attention, consistent support, and opportunities to develop skills at their own pace.
We recognize that neurodivergent young adults may benefit from predictable routines, individualized guidance, and an environment that respects their unique strengths and needs.
Our approach focuses on helping each resident build confidence, develop meaningful connections, strengthen daily living skills, and prepare for greater independence.
We're not simply providing a place to stay. We're helping young adults build a foundation for the next chapter of their lives.
Is SMH Academy the Right Fit?
Finding the right residential mental health program for a young adult is an important decision. At SMH Academy, we're here to help families and referring professionals understand our approach and determine whether our program may be an appropriate fit.
