Residential Mental Health Support for Young Adults with Anxiety & Depression

Personalized care. Emotional wellness. A path toward independence.

Navigating young adulthood can be especially challenging when anxiety, depression, mood disorders, or difficulties with emotional regulation interfere with everyday life. At SMH Academy, we provide individualized residential mental health support for young men ages 18–25 in a comfortable, structured environment in Boise, Idaho.

Our intentionally small, eight-resident program combines personalized mental health care, healthy daily routines, practical life-skills development, and meaningful opportunities for personal growth. We help young adults strengthen emotional resilience, build confidence, and develop the tools needed to move toward greater independence.

Understanding Anxiety, Depression & Mood Challenges in Young Adults

The transition into adulthood brings new responsibilities, expectations, and opportunities for independence. For young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, or mood-related challenges, navigating these changes can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Anxiety may contribute to persistent worry, avoidance, difficulty making decisions, or challenges participating in everyday activities. Depression can affect motivation, energy, concentration, relationships, and the ability to maintain healthy routines. Mood disorders and difficulties with emotional regulation may create additional challenges with consistency, interpersonal relationships, and managing stress.

At SMH Academy, we recognize that mental health challenges rarely exist in isolation. Some young adults also experience ADHD, autism, executive-function difficulties, or other co-occurring conditions that influence how they process emotions, manage responsibilities, and engage with the world around them.

Our individualized, whole-person approach focuses on understanding each resident's unique strengths, experiences, and goals. Through personalized mental health support, structured daily routines, and practical skill development, we help young adults develop healthier patterns, strengthen emotional resilience, and work toward greater independence.

What Our Anxiety & Depression

Residential Program Offers

At SMH Academy, we recognize that meaningful mental health progress involves more than managing symptoms. Our individualized residential approach combines clinical support, healthy daily routines, emotional skill development, and practical experiences that help young adults build confidence, strengthen resilience, and work toward greater independence.

Small by Design. Personalized for Progress.

At SMH Academy, we believe meaningful mental health progress begins with feeling understood, supported, and empowered to grow.

Our residential program is intentionally limited to eight young men, allowing us to provide a more personalized experience within a comfortable, home-based environment. Rather than navigating a large institutional setting, residents have opportunities to build consistent routines, develop meaningful relationships, and receive individualized support aligned with their unique needs and goals.

For young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, or mood-related challenges, everyday responsibilities and transitions can sometimes feel overwhelming. Our structured yet flexible environment provides opportunities to practice healthy coping strategies, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop confidence through everyday experiences.

We recognize that progress looks different for everyone. Our approach emphasizes individualized planning, supportive relationships, practical skill development, and opportunities to move forward at a sustainable pace.

Our goal isn't simply to help young adults manage today's challenges. It's to help them develop the confidence, skills, and resilience to navigate tomorrow.

Supporting Co-Occurring Autism & ADHD

Anxiety and depression can occur alongside autism, ADHD, and executive-function challenges. At SMH Academy, our individualized approach considers how these experiences may overlap and influence each resident's mental health, daily functioning, and personal goals.
